Young Endeavour in maintenance

Young Endeavour is in the dry dock at Garden Island undergoing maintenance. While on the blocks she will have her hull scraped and anti-fouled, and checks made to her steering, propulsion and underwater valves.
Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander Andrew Callander, says the work is progressing on schedule.
“Earlier this month, Young Endeavour was at Noakes Shipyard in Berrys Bay. The first phase of maintenance saw her yards, boom and gaff removed for refurbishment.”
“The boat deck and bowsprit have also been replaced due to age and identification of some corrosion.”
Once the hull work is complete, Young Endeavour will return to Noakes for the yards and square sails to go back on, along with the foils, boom and gaff. The rig will also be tuned.
“Overall, Young Endeavour is in pretty good knick,” Lieutenant Commander Callander said.
“On completion of the refit period she will be in a very sound materiel state. The staff crew and I are working hard to get her through maintenance and back to sea ready for V13/19 in early November.”
