Ahoy there Shipmates,
Overnight the Ship remained at sea on passage southwards along the southern NSW coast, experiencing moderate southerly winds requiring us to motor-sail to make ground towards our destination of Devonport.
Blue Watch woke us up at 0700 with their rendition of the Queen song ‘Don’t Stop Me Now. Following another of Marcus’ hearty breakfasts we launched into the Morning Brief which included visits from both Salty and Nana. This was followed by Happy Hour and then Watch Officer Evan gave a nautical Rules of the Road brief to the Youth Crew.
Lunch was followed by an hour of free time and the next edition of Rope Races. During the Afternoon Watch I gave a Sail Theory presentation to the White Watch aimed at teaching them what they need to know to be able to develop and adapt a successful sail plan on Command Day.
During the First Dog Watch we took the Ship to Tacking Stations and practised Tacking the Ship to enable the new crew members to better understand their role when the Ship is required to alter course and put the wind on the opposite ‘tack’ or side of the Ship.

The Ship will continue motor-sailing through the night towards Devonport. Tonight it is intended to conduct the leadership and teamwork exercise known as the ‘BEAREX’.  -
Until tomorrow.

Yours Aye
Captain Mike
