Every day on board Young Endeavour is different, depending on where you are sailing, the weather, and the stage of the youth development program. You’ll spend several days and nights at sea learning to sail and joining activities on deck. During time at anchor you might rest or go ashore. One thing you can rely on: you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime.
Wake up bright and early with some well-chosen music and a hearty breakfast to start the day
Get an update from the Navigator, learn some nautical terms, and hear the Sailmaster’s plan for the day ahead
A clean ship is a happy ship, and everyone pitches in to ensure we are ready to sail
Learn everything you need to know to work together and crew a square-rigged brigantine
Young Endeavour’s chefs are famous for the amazing meals they cook in the galley, with help from our youth crew galley hands
Join your fellow youth crew for duty as the watch-on-deck. Take the helm, keep lookout, learn to navigate, and handle the sails
Everyone on deck to turn the bow through the wind – standby to let draw the staysails, brace the yards and heave in on the sheets
Test your knowledge of all things nautical under the expert guidance of the ship’s Engineer
Once the ship is at anchor it’s time to swim or go ashore to explore the amazing Australian coastline
Enjoy a hearty meal in the café or a teak deck BBQ, get to know the other youth crew and reflect on the day’s activities
Check with the Officer of the Watch and share an unforgettable sunset aloft the mast on the topgallant platform
Report for duty at the bridge and take the First Watch before heading to your cabin for some well-earned rest
