Voyage 14/08 Commences
Ahoy Shipmates, Today saw the commencement of Voyage 14/08 from Brisbane to Sydney, which is the last of our northern voyages (QLD) for 2008. The voyage began with a welcome to the Youth Crew and a very large gathering of family and friends at the Dockside Marina in the upper reaches of the Brisbane River. With family, friends and well-wishers farewelled, the lines were cast off at 1550 and the ship conducted a well executed manoeuvre to depart Dockside Marina. Once clear of the Marina we commenced our 2 hour passage down the Brisbane River and out into Morton Bay, finally coming to anchor just west of Mud Island at 1745. During this passage all watches completed ice breakers’ and Ships tours. As stated in today’s opening address the food onboard YE is fantastic and Chef Sammi’s dinner tonight was no exception (fillet steak, tuna pasta, pepper pies, seafood marinara plus 3 choices of deserts). Following dinner it has been strait into climbing safety and hopefully by late evening we will see all YC achieve their first climb of the fore mast before finally turning in for their first nights sleep onboard YE. Anyway had better finish here as I am now required up the mast. Until tomorrow, take care. Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
