Voyage 06/09 Underway

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the commencement of Voyage 06-09 from Brisbane to Bundaberg and the second leg of YOUNG ENDEAVOURS 2009 Circumnavigation of Australia. Today’s voyage began in sunny conditions with a welcome to the Youth Crew and a large number of family and friends at Bulimba Barracks, which is located on the Brisbane River. With family, friends and well-wishers farewelled, the lines were cast off at 1605 and the ship commenced the 2 hour transit down the Brisbane River and out into Morton Bay, finally coming to anchor just west of Mud Island at 1800. During this transit all watches completed ice breaker’ activities and Ships tours. As stated in today’s opening address the food onboard YE is fantastic and Chef Chad’s dinner tonight was of the normal high standard that we have come to enjoy on YE. Following dinner it was straight into Captain and Sail Master talks followed by climbing aloft safety briefs. At the moment all watches are attempting their first climb of the foremast and it is hoped that by late this evening all of the YC will have achieved their first goal of climbing to the topgallant yard (highest yard). Once the YC have completed this climb the training program for today will be complete and everyone will turn in for their first night onboard YE. Until tomorrow take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
