Voyage 02/09 Commences
Ahoy shipmates, Welcome to Voyage 02-09 from George Town to Melbourne. The voyage today commenced at 1530 with a warm welcome to the new Youth Crew, family, friends and well-wishers at the York Cove Marina in George Town, Tasmania. At 1540 our guests were farewelled but due to a strong north westerly keeping the ship on its marina berth I decided to delay our sailing until tomorrow morning when it is forecasted for the wind to be more favourable for getting away from the berth. Once guests were clear of the ship we immediately commenced the program with a set of into ice breaker activities followed by ship familiarisation. With these activities complete dinner was served with tonight’s menu consisting of T-Bone Steak with a Mushroom Sauce, Roast Chicken, Normal and Vegetarian Lasagne plus and to finish a choice of 4 different deserts. Once we had cleaned up from dinner Jazz (Sail Master) and I conducted our individual briefs and then it was straight into safety aloft and climbing procedures. As I complete this log entry two of the watches have already successfully climbed to the topgallant yard (highest yard) and the third has just commenced their climb.Tomorrow morning we will depart York Cove, transit the short distance out of the Tamar River and head out into the infamous Bass Strait, were at present, the conditions are forecast to be favourable.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
