Day 7 – Ahoy Mooloolaba!

Ahoy! And welcome to Captain’s Log for Day 7!

Tomorrow is Command Day! Our talented Youthies held their own elections this afternoon and I’m pleased to announce they made the following selections: Captain – Tayah, Sail Master – Freya, Nav – Deagan, Watch Officers – Sarah, Nicole and Alana, Watch Leaders – Angus, Bella and Maddi, and Chefs – Conor, Elijah and Emily! Congratulations to all, I’m sure you’ll serve your fellow Youthies well on Command Day!

Now… over to the Youthies!

The amazing White watch had the long and tiring guts watch over night followed by the Blueys on Morning watch who got to watch an amazing sunrise! Before long, wakey wakey was played to awaken all Youthie sailors for an amazing breakfast.

To make sure the ship is in safe hands with us tomorrow, Captain Libby and Hutchy tested our skills at “Captain’s Setting and Furling”. All the watches passed with flying colours! A big thank you to our fabulous Watch leaders Matty, Sara and Theresa who worked hard to prepare us!

With the help of Nav Seb, Sail Master Tomo, and a couple of tacks, we made our way towards the Sunshine Coast. After the morning at sea, we anchored at Mooloolaba.

With our stomachs settled and no seasickness for the day, we headed to the galley for an amazing lunch prepared by Chef Ash and Master Chefs Tayah, Deagan, and Emily. After some down time, we participated in a series of deck games followed by the Command Day brief and elections.

There is no better way than ending the night with a movie under the stary night out at sea then we were all very glad to hear that we will be keeping anchor watches (which are significantly shorter than our regular watches!).

As we approach Command Day, we must be reminded that ‘Everything good in life begins with a challenge”.

And of course, let’s not forget to mention our one and only Captain, Captain Libby! We would all like to wish her a very Happy Birthday! The Youthies and Staffies strived to make the day as special as possible including making a chocolate cake for the celebration!
