Day 10 – V14/25 Fremantle to Fremantle

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Day 10 and the last night of our voyage. Unfortunately, the weather gods were not in our favour this morning, and we woke to strong winds and rain squalls; this meant that we had to cancel the Community Day Sail, which disappointed all of us, but it wouldn’t have been a safe or enjoyable experience in these conditions for our guests.

As with everything on board Young Endeavour, we always have a backup plan, and today we called in some assistance from our Navy friends at HMAS Stirling, who were only too happy to help with activities for the day and really gave the Youth Crew the opportunity to experience something a little different, which I know they enjoyed. That’s enough from me, I will now hand-over to the Youth Crew who will tell you all about their day.

Until tomorrow, take care
Captain Gav.

CARPE DIEM seize the day!!

Welcome to day 10 of our voyage! Today we woke up with a change of plans; the community day was cancelled *sad face emoji*. Our worst enemy, the weather, didn’t agree with us today, but at least Jack got that prediction right.

Although plans changed, it doesn’t mean that we didn’t have an absolute blast today. As Captain Gav once said… “Attitude is the difference between an adventure and an ordeal”.

We had a banging brekkie of bacon and egg rolls once again, thanks to the wonderful Steve. Once our stomachs were full, we were called up to midships, White Watch got there first *wooo!*, and the Staffies had a wonderful surprise for us. We got to ride in HMAS Arafura’s RHIB!!! We went as fast as the wind and got absolutely soaked because of it, but it was definitely worth it. Next thing we knew, our spirits we back up.

After some thrills and chills, we caught a ride into HMAS Stirling to tour through a Submarine. After sustaining minor head injuries (not much headroom in Submarines), we went for a tour of the Bridge Simulation Room, where they train the Navy personnel to drive warships without risking harm or damage to people or property.

This afternoon, we had a final round of Rope Races, which included a bonus round where, unfortunately, Blue Watch did take the win in the end.

The bonus round consisted of 6 eggs, 5 of which ended with yolk on the deck (and a bit on Captain Gav). Red watch in a stroke of genius decided to boil their last egg so it wouldn’t break when it was dropped.

Every watch had two eggs. The first one they had to throw to every watch member without it cracking.

The second egg had to be dropped using materials found in a box to cushion its landing and was judged on the least egg spillage, the creativity of the parachute design and the aesthetics. Both Blue and White Watches eggs broke upon impact with the deck, but red watches boiled egg didn’t crack, awarding them the point.

After adding up all the points from every round, Blue Watch won with 12 points, with Red Watch coming in a close second at 11 points.

Dinner followed with Steve cooking up magnificent pizzas for us, which were amazing.

See you tomorrow, hope you guys enjoyed our Captains Logs for this voyage.
