Day 5 – ZOOOMING towards Bass Strait

Ahoy dear readers, anchored in Sealers Cove in the lee of Wilsons Promontory as I write this, a gale force westerly wind warning is in effect for next few days so our intention is to stay put and wait out the passing weather. Having had to motorsail into the wind and swell for the past several days, today we finally loosed the squares and with the wind at our backs, had a lovely square run making good 9-10 knots for most of the day.

Several pods of dolphins and countless seabirds joined us along the way and we were even greeted at Wilsons Prom by a lone seal waving hello, as the sun broke through the grey clouds and shone brightly on Sealers Cove, inviting us in. A good sign we thought… Anyway, please enjoy a humorous recount of the day by Marj and Phoebe.

Captain Adam Charlie Farley+

Ahoy there friends and family, prepare to read the best CLOG that has ever graced your screens!

The morning started out similarly as the past few days, some weary shipmates had their head hungover the edge, still feeding the fishies with last night’s dinner. However, we could not linger in our feelings for too long, as Felix threw an apple overboard, signifying the start of a new day, and throwing out bad vibes out along with the apple.

We were ZOOOMING towards the Bass Strait as all the youthies got together to unfurl all the sails as the wind was behind us, filling not only out sails but also our feelings with excitement.

But UH OH!! A storm is on its way!! What is a tall ship carrying 24 of the finest youthies you will ever see to do? We put our heads together, and our wonderful staffies made the decision to seek refuge at Sealers Cove in the beautiful Wilsons Promontory! Hopefully this will also bring us all a night of smooth sleep.

Today’s rope races saw the blueys FINALLY get some points on the scoreboard, and even managed to overtake all the competitors! Who would have thought! But rest assured, even though the Reddies have slipped to the bottom, we will be clawing our way back with vengeance and a taste for victory again.

Shout out to Jarod for a banging lunch of Laska soup. His meals never fail to warm our bellies with tasty goodness that tastes even better when it comes back up.

Lastly, the afternoon ended with all youthies at their tacking station where we all have set tasks to do.

This has been your daily clog, from perhaps the most interesting pair of youthies on board, the ones who wish we could just go swimming with the dolphins!

Signing out, see y’all in 6 days! (Hopefully)
