Day 3 – JB jaunt
Ahoy there family and friends! Youthies Lucy, Libby and Ev here to update you on day three of our voyage. We wrapped up our first night watches with some wild weather, especially for our poor, poor blue watch shipmates who were on the 0400 until 0800 morning watch. While the blue watch were working hard, red and white were only just waking up to Dolly Parton’s beautiful voice through the pipes and an extremely rocky ship. Breakfast was consumed by some, but not many. Those of us who tried to think we weren’t going to be seasick surely ate our words. Along with the rain and sizeable swell we experienced the joys of feeding the fish.
We spent our morning travelling down the South coast into Jervis Bay, enjoying the sites like Point Perpendicular and a dolphin or two. As we reached the calm waters of the bay, swell decreased and morale increased. Staffies postponed our morning briefs for some well needed rest and recovery. Us Youthies experienced our very first ‘Happy Hour’ where we cleaned the ship from top to bottom.
After a delicious lunch prepared by the lovely chef Ash we commenced our first round of ‘Rope Races’ in which our knowledge of safety features on the ship was tested in a showdown between Red, White and Blue watches. Although it was highly contested, white watch came out on top.
After safely anchoring in the glorious Jervis Bay, we went ashore and enjoyed a swim as well as a few rounds of cricket and volleyball. Once back on ship we were treated to Mexican night with some awesome food and even better dance moves.
The final activity of the evening was a fun and insightful game (that included charades) where we got to know each other a whole lot better.
We are now settling in for our overnight anchor watches and a good night sleep.
That’s it for today folks, until next time, Lucy, Libby and Ev.

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
