Day 4 – Ahoy Trial Bay!
Ahoy there me hearties, and welcome to the Day 4 Captain’s Log of the amazing V03/24!
Today our Youthies were in for a big treat after they woke up, the ship was anchored in Trial Bay! After carrying out their watches over night, which included dolphins, shooting stars and navigation practices, the Youthies were woken up at 0700. At Morning Brief at 0900 Trev gave us the plan for the day which included going ashore and Three Way Chats (which involved getting to know one person from each of the other watches). This was followed by a Snappy Hour of cleaning and then all got changed into swimwear to prepare for the fun day ahead.
At 1045 we started getting into the sea boats to be transferred ashore for the first time since the start of the voyage. Once arriving at the beautiful beaches of Trial Bay, we went for a refreshing swim in the cool water before we enjoyed our packed lunch of wraps or sandwiches.
After lunch the Youthies and a few Staffies went for a short scenic walk to the Trial Bay Gaol. There, we spent about an hour enjoying the history of the remote gaol, including the attempted construction of the infamous Trial Bay Rock Wall. The architecture of the goal was also a favourite among the Youthies.
At 1330 the Youthies were back into the water playing a couple of games, including modified versions of Bull Rush, Water Polo and Bang. We then walked back to the sea boats and made our way back to the ship.
After arriving back, we got changed into dry clothes and prepared to present our Three Way Chats. We then had a delicious barbecue on the deck and some sticky date pudding for dessert. Three Way Chats commenced at 1900, which entailed each Youthie explaining what they learnt about the other Youthies in their group and playing charades to explain the other Youthies favourite movie.
After Three Way Chats, Seb gave a brief on anchor watches to prepare the Youthies for their first anchor watches overnight.
Shoutout to all families and friends for their support!

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
