TRIAL BAY

Ahoy there everyone, Welcome to day four, the morning commenced with an epic 0700 wakey wakey song and commentary composed by White Watch, arousing all from their slumber for breakfast and a glorious morning.Overnight the wind and swell had abated significantly while the ship made good ground south assisted by the East Australian Current and fresh winds during the middle watch. All Youth Crew were energised for a busy day and it was pleasing to note that the majority had found their sea legs and were keeping the meals on the inside of the guardrails.During the forenoon the youth Crew continued with deck and sail work consolidation progressing to calling the sails. After lunch the ship closed the coast and shaped a course west into South West Rocks. Just prior to anchoring in Trail Bay the ship conducted a man overboard exercise successfully recovering the life ring and putting the Youth Crew through their paces.Once at anchor all sails were sea furled and the pool was opened enabling those keen adventurers to swing from the course yard arm rope or plunge from the bowsprit into the warm, clear waters of the bay. The overcast conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm as the Youth Crew executed some commendable acrobatic pirouettes, somersaults and water entries.A hearty dinner was consumed on the upper deck whilst the sun set under an overcast sky. This was followed by a three way talk activity requiring each Youth Crew member to gather a significant amount of personal information about two of their appointed shipmates during the afternoon; and then present this to the remainder of the crew in the third person developing confidence, interpersonal skills and public speaking. After this activity the Youth Crew settled into anchor watches for the night. The intention is to remain at anchor overnight before weighing anchor tomorrow morning and recommencing our passage south.Until tomorrow evening, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Damien
