South Coast Surprise

Hi Everyone,                                        Welcome to Day 4 of our voyage. We made good speed overnight in good sailing conditions and by sunrise this morning we were located 22nm to the north east of Bateman’s Bay sailing on a very broad reach under a reduced sail plan.On completion of the normal morning activities of morning brief and cleaning stations the Youth Crew were given an informative presentation by our Watch Officer Phil on Rules of the Road. On completion we entered Bateman’s Bay, where we handed in all sail then proceeded to anchor at the scenic Maloney’s Beach.Lunch followed then this afternoon the Youth Crew were ferried ashore where they enjoyed some beach sports, a refreshing swim, good leg stretch and a quick trip to a local café that was very surprised to have so many customers on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. This evening with everyone safely back onboard we enjoyed another one of Chef Keely’s wonderful dinners which was meant to be a BBQ but due to strong winds had to be cooked in the galley and eaten below decks.Once we had cleaned up from dinner we conducted an entertaining round of three way chats which is communication and public speaking activity which was our final activity before weighing anchor and departing Bateman’s Bay.The time is now 2100 and we are located 6nm to the southeast of Bateman’s Bay just about to set sails and continue to make the most of these strong northerly conditions to get us down to Twofold Bay and the town of Eden by late tomorrow morning.Until tomorrow, take care Yours AyeCaptain Gav
