Our first day
Hello Everyone,Welcome to the start of Voyage 07-09 from Bundaberg to Mackay and the third leg of the Ship’s 2009 Circumnavigation of Australia. Mid-afternoon the Youth Crew, some family and well-wishers gathered on board YOUNG ENDEAVOUR berthed at the Bundaberg Marina, some 20 kilometres from the City of Bundaberg. We had some time to introduce ourselves with the red, white and blue dots on name tags helping us know our assigned group, or watch, as it is known in seafaring speak! With the families and well-wishers all ashore, we made preparations to sail from the berth. Only problem we had though was that it started to rain we are still chasing down the person who brought the showers with them! Anyway, onwards and upwards _ we departed the berth (using the engines) and proceeded upstream to anchor about one mile from the Marina. The Youth Crew spent the early part of the evening doing an escorted, detailed tour of the Ship and enjoyed a fantastic feed care of our legend Chef Jarod. We have just completed a discussion about the broader aspects of what we want to get from the experience on board YOUNG ENDEAVOUR and how we might achieve our goals. With everyone focussed we are now preparing for the major activity of the day, the first climb up the foremast (over 30 meters high) hence the comfortable anchorage for the night! The first climb will take us a few hours a long day, even for the energetic youth! With a likely late finish tonight YOUNG ENDEAVOUR will remain at anchor until tomorrow.Yours AyeDave Jordan (Yak)Voyage Captain
