Day 6 – Dolphins Ho!
Ahoy there landlubbers and armchair sailors! Welcome to the Captain’s Log for Day 6! Our salty sea dogs in training are hard at work tonight so you’re with me, Captain Libby! Day 6 dawned a lazy rainy Sunday morning perfect for sleeping in… but not for our Youthies! Sail Master Tomo woke the ship up at 0630 and had everyone on deck for a quick leg stretch before they started the day. After another scrumptious Breakky from Ash and her Master Chefs, we conducted the Colours ceremony at 0800 then saw all our favourites at Morning Brief. Once Morning Brief was done it was time for the real fun to start! We weighed anchor, set some sails, and with some Staffie guidance, sailed away from the anchorage! We proceeded out of Jervis Bay under sail and turned north to make the most of the prevailing southerly wind. Once outside the heads the seas got a bit lumpy again and tested our Youthies new sea legs. The rest of the morning was taken up by a “Rules of the Road” brief with Watch Officer Emma, teaching us how to avoid collisions at sea. Few Youthies turned up to lunch but fortunately Ash and the Master Chefs had put on some meat pies which were easily transported to those under the weather. They say a good cure for Sea Sickness is distraction though, so after lunch Engineer Nobby served up a round of Ropies. This seemed to do the trick with colour and smiles returning to faces while Nobby put their knowledge to the test. Next up was Sail Theory with Captain Libby! Then we settled back into watches to practice all our sail setting, ship keeping and navigation skills and, even got treated to an afternoon pod of Dolphins! Overnight we’ll be busy on watch conducting a self-reflection activity called “Stop, Start, Continue” then a Watch challenge to see how we work together as a team. And if there’s any time left after that we’ll be practicing our skills ahead of Captain’s Setting and Furling tomorrow! Well friends it’s been a long day, and it doesn’t end here! Tune in tomorrow to see how our Youthies faired during their challenges overnight! Stay safe friends! Captain Libby+

Day 5 – Beach Vibes (Jervis Bay)
Captain’s Youthies’ Log Ahoy! The sun arose around the beautiful Jervis Bay this morning. The amazing Staffies safely and excellently anchored us here to prepare us for our adventure ahead. This morning we heard from all our favourites. Tomo, Trev, Captain Libby, and of course, Emma – the descendant of the man himself. Today we had our beach day! While the day started with wind and rain, it soon cleared up and we all jumped in the sea boat to head ashore. Whilst ashore, we played on the beach, played electric piggy in the middle, had some lunch, reviewed our Full Value Contracts, Red Watch (GO RED WATCH !!!) visited some Wallabies, and we all did some relays which included – Dribbling balls, three legged races, and building sandcastles. As the unbiased author, Cael and Ramon killed the three-legged races! After heading back to the ship, it was time for the Happiest Hour of the day!!! We all got to work cleaning the ship and after a quick break, Emma gave us all a meteorology brief featuring accurate to-scale drawings! Ash and Nobby cooked up a fantastic BBQ for dinner. We brought up a big speaker, and all sat at midships eating our dinner listening to music then we also all got some ice cream. Today was Rope Races on the Square Sails! Red Watch came through with an incredible victory, yet again. The day ended with some Youthies taking a moment to journal, some deciding to do some mast climbing, and others enjoying a cuppa and some board games. Overall, it was a fantastic day. Smiles (and sunburn) all round. Thanks to the Staffies for their amazing efforts yet again! And now a word from our Youthies: Ava – hey mum love you loads can’t wait to see you Yo-Yo – I’m having so much fun aboard this ship! Cael – REDDIES REEEAADDY! Ethan – Miss you all at home Harison – Missing you Joan x

Day 4 – Sea Legs Loading!
Hey everyone! (Parents, siblings, and others!) Boy was today an adventure! We woke up at 0700 after our first taste of 4 hour watches overnight and had an amazing breaky to brace us of the adventure ahead. As usual, Tomo’s Morning Brief was exciting and fun including loads of stuff such as: Trev’s awesome navigation skills, Emma’s history from the diaries of Captain Cook himself (allegedly), and last but definitely not least, Captain Libby with her inspirational quote of the day. While the sea was rough, we got through and had happy happy happy hour! Later we played Rounds 2 and 3 of Rope Races! Blue watch lost sadly, but don’t worry we will have our comeback! Yes, the questions were difficult, but it was a testimony to how hard we work as a team. Don’t get me wrong, the other watches did well, but they don’t call in as fast as us (GO BLUE WATCH!). As we “2, 6, heaved” our way through the day, setting lots of sails including the Jib, Fore Staysail and Course, we battled through with some suffering blistered hands and some sea sickness. Lunch was as good as ever because boy does Chef Ash cook up a storm! (p.s if you’re ever looking for an amazing chef head on down to the Young Endeavour!) We have just arrived in Jervis Bay to get out of the worsening weather. Not sure how long we will be here, but trust us, we will to have a great time! What a heck of a day!
