Motorsailing, Off Botany Bay

Motorsailing, Off Botany Bay

Ahoy Me Hearties,Welcome to the Captain’s Log for Voyage 16/07. We’re off to a flying start; after leaving family and friends behind at Woolloomoolloo yesterday afternoon we went to anchor in Taylor’s Bay in Sydney Harbour. Overnight we completed safety inductions and first climbs, and now everyone has made it to the top of the mast. This morning we had morning brief, Happy Hour” (I love the sounds of cleanng in the morning) and “”Captain Safety Man”” to brief us on our survival equipment. We sailed just before lunch and are now cruising along under topsail and engines making 8.5 knots towards our destination. I’m afraid this good offing will be short lived however because at soem stage this afternoon we expect to bump into a significant South East Change with gale force winds. It will be “”batten down the hatches”” for a heavy night of rough weather sailing. I’ll let you know how it all goes tomorrow! In other news we have had our first seasikkies
