Memories for Years to Come
Voyage V12/02 has come to an end and the Youth Crew have departed the Ship for home. It has been a great ten days and the entire Ship’s Company have some wonderful memories to cherish fora long time to come. The friendships that were formed may continue to grow or they may fade, but hopefully each member of the Youth Crewwill always be able to look back on their experience in YOUNG ENDEAVOUR with fondness and remember the exciting times we had together. The Youth Crew of V12/02 can now lay claim to membership in the small group of Australians who have risen to the challenge of sailing a Tallship around our shores. More importantly though, theyare able to think back to their voyage and apply in their future lives some of the interpersonal skills they developed and used while onboard.Final thought of the day for voyage V12/02: We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses. Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
