Have Departed Esperance

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Day 2 of the voyage. It was an early start to the day for the new crew of Young Endeavour with everyone on deck at 0630 for an early morning activity. Following the normal big YE breakfast it was straight into colours (raise the flags and sing the National Anthem) followed by a very informative morning brief. At 0915 the lines were cast off and Young Endeavour departed her berth and proceeded to anchor in Esperance Bay. Once safely at anchor the Youth Crew were introduced to the morning activity of Happy Hour’ (cleaning stations) and I have to say that they really did do a great job this morning. Straight after lunch we commenced first climbs and I am happy to say that nearly all of the Youth Crew made it to the topgallant yard (highest yard) which was a great effort. Once everyone was safely back on deck Taff the Bosun gave a quick safety equipment brief then preparations were made to depart Esperance. At 1530 the anchor was weighed and YE departed Esperance Harbour under main engines. Once in the Causeway Channel sail was set and we commenced our passage out into Recherche Archipelago. Overnight the Youth Crew will settle into their watches and commence learning some new sailing skills.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
