Free Open Day on STS Young Endeavour – Geelong Festival of Sail – Sunday 26 Jan, 1-4pm
Visit Australia’s national sail training ship STS Young Endeavour at the Geelong Festival of Sails!
As part of the 2025 Geelong Festival of Sails, STS Young Endeavour has been announced as the official start boat for the 182nd Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race on Saturday 25 Jan. After the race STS Young Endeavour will accompany the fleet as it makes its way to Geelong, where it will be docked at Wangim Walk, Royal Geelong Yacht Club for the weekend. The ship will be open to the general public on Sunday 26 Jan, 1-4pm.
Explore the ship, meet the Royal Australian Navy staff crew, and hear from the Young Endeavour Ambassadors about their voyage experience. Since 1988 the ship has welcomed over 14,000 young Australians on board, and sailed more than 500,000 nautical miles.
A voyage in Young Endeavour is a challenging adventure at sea for youth aged 16-23 years. It’s a unique opportunity for youth to develop teamwork and leadership skills through an internationally recognised youth development program.
The event is free, open to all ages and great for the whole family. Visitors encouraged to wear enclosed, flat shoes and shorts/pants.
Come along to ask the team how you can apply for your own voyage of a lifetime.

Australia Circumnavigation – Applications Now Open!
You can now apply for an unforgettable voyage on STS Young Endeavour as it circumnavigates Australia.

With over 20, 11-day voyages around the coastline of Australia, from tropical Queensland to the rugged red sand of the Top End, this a voyage program not to be missed.
STS Young Endeavour will sail to ports in Brisbane, Gladstone, Cairns, Thursday Island, Darwin, Broome, Exmouth, Fremantle, Albany. Before wrapping up along Adelaide, Geelong and returning to Sydney.
Australian youth aged 16-23 will join our professional Royal Navy crew, learning not only how to sail a square-rigged tall ship, but how to lead, support others and work together as a team. You will join over 14,000 young Australians who have taken part in this unique development experience that helps participants develop self-awareness and confidence.
With 24 fellow youth crew, from all over Australia and all different walks of life, you will learn how to take the helm, handle lines, keep watch, navigate, and climb the 30-metre mast. No sailing experience is needed, only a willingness to join the crew and learn along the way.
Young Australians aged 16-23 are invited to to apply now to be eligible for the chance to sail aboard STS Young Endeavour on 'the big lap' of Australia.
First round applications close Thursday 30 January so apply now to be eligible.

Financial assistance is also available for youth aged 16-23 who receive a qualifying Centrelink benefit, or, youth under 18 years who are living with a parent who receives a qualifying Centrelink benefit, such as Supporting Parent Benefit or Disability Support. Financially Assisted Berths are limited, and applicants will be asked to submit supporting information, such as an Income Statement from Centrelink, as proof of your financial circumstances.
Since 1988, more than 14,000 young Australians from across Australia have sailed in STS Young Endeavour, taking part in a unique youth development experience that helps participants develop self-awareness and confidence, and gives them an opportunity to grow their teamwork and leadership skills through sail training and self-development activities.
