First Night Of Voyage 19/09

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Voyage 19/09 from Williamstown to Sydney. This is the final voyage of Young Endeavours 2009 Circumnavigation of Australia. The Staff Crew for this voyage are as follows:Captain GavSail Master TaffyNavigator DutchyWatch Officer KennyRed Watch Leader JessWhite Watch Leader ShayneBlue Watch Leader PennyChef SnowyEngineer JoshToday’ voyage commenced with the ship berthed alongside at the Workshop Pier in Williamstown. At 1500 we commenced embarking all of the new Youth Crew and by 1545 everyone was safely onboard. Following my welcome address and Staff Crew introductions we farewelled a number of family and friends who had come onboard for a tour of the ship and a chance to say goodbye to the Youth Crew. With formalities complete the Sail Master commenced the program with a set of ice breakers’ (exercise designed to encourage Youth Crew to get to know each other) followed by ships tours then dinner. On completion of one of Chef Snowy\’s fantastic dinners we conducted Captains and Sail Master talks then went straight into safety aloft and first night climbs. Due to strong wind conditions on Port Phillip Bay I have opted to remain alongside for this evening which has made first-night climbs’ a little more comfortable. This decision has definitely paid off with all of the Youth Crew successfully making it to the topgallant yard (highest yard). The time is now 2230 and the last of the Youth Crew are just arriving back on deck were they will be given some enjoy some soup and hot chocolate to warm them up prior to turning in for a good nights rest.Tomorrow morning we will depart Williamstown and commence our passage to Sydney. Until Tomorrow, Take Care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
