Final Night Of Voyage 09-09

Hi Everyone, At 0645 this morning Young Endeavour weighed anchor and departed Horseshoe Bay making the 2 hour passage around to the Port of Townsville were we berthed port side to Berth 9 at 0900. After sullage (garbage) was landed and stores embarked, 45 guests from Stanton Lodge, Willows Primary School, Townsville City Council and Townsville Port Authority were welcomed onboard. The lines were cast off at 1010 and the ship departed its berth and proceeded out into Cleveland Bay were engines were shut down and the ship brought under sail. The weather on the bay was perfect and all of our guests enjoyed a memorable sail. Throughout the half day sail, the YC acted as perfect hosts, serving food, refreshments and entertaining our guests with a repertoire of their favourite YE songs. By 1230 it was time to hand in all sail and begin the passage back to our berth, arriving as planned at 1300. Once we had farewelled our guests, stores for the next voyage were embarked and harbour furls completed. At 1600 we again departed our berth and conducted a short passage to our planned anchorage for the night at Geoffrey’s Bay (Magnetic Island). Once at anchor we completed end of voyage talks followed by our last teak deck BBQ for this voyage. The rest of this evening has been spent with YC completing end of voyage questionnaires and letters to themselves, which are returned to each YC member six months after voyage. At 1000 tomorrow morning Young Endeavour will berth for the final time for this voyage at the Port Of Townsville. Following our farewells to the Youth Crew of Voyage 09-09 the Staff Crew will take a well earned 48hr break and make preparations for our next voyage commencing on Saturday 25 July, which is from Townsville to Cairns. This ends the fifth voyage of Young Endeavours 2009 Australian circumnavigation, which for all of us has been another memorable adventure.Until next voyage, take care.Yours AyeCaptain GavPlease find attached final Captains Log entry from Youth Crew member Scott.Through out our time on board the ship we have learnt and experienced so many different and new things that have pushed us and helped us to challenge ourself physically and mentally. This has been an experience of a life time and I have been so privileged to be part of this youth crew. I can say that I will leave the Young Endeavour with no regret’s, and with memories and experiences that I will never forget.
