Farewell Geelong!

My name is Matthew Rowe and I am the Executive Officer (second in command) of Young Endeavour. I am relieving the Commanding Officer Andrew Davis while he takes a well deserved rest with his family. This afternoon our new Youth Crew joined the ship at Cunningham Pier in Geelong and spent some time settling in before we departed the wharf at 1600 (4pm). For those of us who had spent the weekend in Geelong it was sad to say goodbye after what amounted to some of the finest hospitality ever extended to the ship’s company. Thanks very much to the people of Geelong for another great visit, and to the many returnees who came down to the ship to help out or just to say ‘G’day’. Geelong behind us though, all onboard seem filled with the excitement of the adventure that awaits us as we sail North toward Newcastle. Tonight we will anchor near Dromana in Port Phillip Bay while our crew begin climbing aloft and learning the all important knot-tying skills that will help them through the voyage. Tomorrow’s plan is to head off to sea, and start making some ground toward our destination. Until then, fair winds and following seas to you all.Matthew Rowe
