Departed Port Stephens for Sea
After a restful night at anchor in Nelson Bay, Sailmaster Adam woke the crew at 0600 for a quick pre-breakfast game. After breakfast we had the usual morning brief, followed by ‘happy hour ‘. Then Blue Watch Leader Evan gave the Youthies a brief on Meterology, covering wind and weather mechanisms at the global and local level. That was followed by round 3 of Rope Races run by 2nd engineer Allan. After lunch we weighed anchor and departed Port Stephens. Once clear of the harbour we undertook rotational tacks to enable the crew to learn what the other watches’ duties are at tacking stations. At 1500 the Youthies layed aloft to cast loose gaskets on the square sails. On completion I delivered my sail theory brief to the watches individually, whilst they were on watch. It is intended to remain at sea overnight and give the Youthies setting and furling experience on the square sails.Until tomorrow,Yours aye, Captain Mike

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
