Day 7 – Broken Bay
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Day 7 of our voyage. By sunrise this morning we were located 35nm to the south-east of Sydney sailing under fore & aft sails in moderate 10-15kt NE winds. Following another one of Chef Steve’s delicious breakfasts we all mustered for morning brief where we were again enlightened by Salty’s nautical tales and some fun facts on where we have been and where we are going from Trev our Navigator.
Happy Hour followed, then it was time for Captains Sail Setting and Furling Drills with all watches demonstrating a high standard of safety and teamwork and passing with flying colours. Later this afternoon we entered Broken Bay where we again put the ship under sail and in near perfect conditions completed a very good set of Demonstrational Tacks. With this activity complete the Youth Crew did a great job of handing in all fore & aft sails before we conducted a well-executed ‘sail to anchor’ just utilising the wind and our topsail coming safely to anchor just of the picturesque township of Patonga at 1615.
Early this evening I conducted the Command Day Brief which was followed by Command Day elections and I am happy to announce the following positions:
Captain – Tilly
Sail Master – Liam
Navigator – Angus
Watch Officer – Abi
Watch Leaders – TJ, Eliza & Gabby
Chefs – Gabriella, Jade & Darcy
The time is now 2015 and everyone has just mustered up on deck for the screening of the classic Tall Ship movie ‘Around Cape Horn’ which will be the last activity of the night before settling into anchor watches overnight ensuring that everyone is well rested for the commencement of tomorrows Command Day.
Until tomorrow, take care.
Captain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
