Day 11 – Final Day of Voyage
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Day 11 and the final day of our voyage. It was a well-rested Youth Crew that mustered on deck for an Early Morning Activity at 0630 this morning. Being the final morning of the voyage Chef Stevo served up a continental breakfast which meant that we all got to help ourselves to toast, pastries, cereals, yogurt and our final pieces of fresh fruit.
Morning Brief and ‘Happy Hour’ followed, then we departed our berth and sailed down under the Harbour Bridge. While this was occurring the Youth Crew put on their harnesses, mustered up on deck then ‘manned the yards’ ready for our final arrival back at HMAS Waterhen.
At 0930 we turned around, again passed under the Harbour Bridge then returned to HMAS Waterhen where with yards manned we berthed for the final time for this voyage.
Once safely alongside the Youth Crew came down from the foremast (lay below) and were greeted by a large gathering of family and friends. After spending some time with love ones and giving them a tour of the ship we all gather at midship’s where I gave my final address then presented all of the Youth Crew with Certificates of Achievement prior to saying our final sad farewells.
Once the Youth Crew had departed the ship the Staff set about completing ‘end of voyage checks’ and getting ready for our next voyage.
On a personal note, I would like to thank all of the Youth Crew of Voyage 02/24 for a fantastic voyage, you are a wonderful group of young Australians and the Staff Crew of Young Endeavour have thoroughly enjoyed sharing this sailing adventure with you and wish you all the best for the future.
Young Endeavour will stay alongside in Sydney until Tuesday 30th January when she will embark a new Youth Crew for Voyage 03-24 which is a Sydney to Newcastle Voyage.
I now hand the ship back to Captain Libby who will return from a well-earned break. It has been great to be back as Relief Captain for this voyage working with such a wonderful Youth Crew and talented Navy Staff Crew.
Until Next Voyage, Fair Winds and Following Seas
Yours Aye,
Captain Gav.

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
