Day 8 Command Day Commences
Ahoy there everyone, Young Endeavour anchored overnight west of the breath taking Dunk Island within reach of the island’s beautiful Brammo Bay, the Young Endeavour indigenous youth crew slept under the stars on the tall ship’s upper deck with a cool south eastly breeze ranging 10-15 knots. At 0635 with the sun on its way up creating an eye catching sunrise for youth crew members climbing aloft to catch a glimpse, it also brought a new exciting and challenging day for the vessels crew Command Day which commenced at 1300hrs and is to continue for the next 24hrs. With the day underway, we focused on gaining more knowledge about our elected positions, which then followed on to a quick dip where everyone relaxed and had fun before the 24hr journey began. As the exciting journey drew near, Captain Damien and staff were more than happy to hand over the vessel to the new captain Kyh (Tim Tam) and his more than capable crew of 19 tall ship sailors from DIDPDefence Indigenous Development Program. We immediately had a meeting in which we went through the task sheet, the first task was the BAT (beach assault team) in which we rowed ashore and found our navigation coordinates. From there we plotted our course, got the team ready, and weighed anchor and sailed. Our cooks (Murray and Carmen) dished up a mouth watering feast of fish, pork, chicken drumsticks and vegies. Followed by a delicious dessert chocolate mud cake and ice cream.Watch Leader Matthew (A.M.G) and his team Blue Watch Walter, Jacob and Lottie are successfully seafaring the vessel on their four hour watch continuing from 2000hrs and are enjoying every minute of their voyage with aeroplanes in the night sky like shooting stars. While they help bring Young Endeavour and crew safely to the final waypoint. So far we have set most sails and are presently sailing with all squares and the main staysail, making good progress towards our destination Fitzroy Island.Until tomorrow evening when more updates of Command Day will be told take care.Koeyma Esso (Thank you)Youth Captain Kyh

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
