Day 8 – At Anchor Broken Bay

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Day 8 of our voyage. Given that we did not anchor until 2345 last night it was a leisurely start to the day this morning with late 0800 wake-up call followed by breakfast.Given this was our first anchorage of the voyage we decided to offer the Youth Crew a voluntary swim and a jump from the ships famous rope swing for those brave enough to dive into the 14 degree waters of Broken Bay. Surprisingly this was the majority of Crew, which meant that the Staff Crew including myself were shamed into joining them.                  Lunch followed then all of the Youth Crew were ferried ashore in the ships boat to Patonga Beach where they enjoyed setting foot on ‘Terra Firma’ for the first time in seven days. While ashore they were given the opportunity to play some beach games, take a walk to the scenic Brisbane Park Lookout or just enjoy a coffee/milkshake at the Patonga café.This evening with everyone safely back onboard we enjoyed another amazing meal from Chef Haydon and his 3 Youth Crew helpers then on completion everyone mustered up on deck for a very entertaining ‘Sods Opera’ (ships concert).Once the concert had finished Matt the Navigator gave a presentation on how to keep the ship safe at anchor and when finished all of the Youth Crew settled into their anchor watches for the night. Tomorrow morning we will depart Broken Bay and given the forecast should be able to put the ship under a full press of sail for the first time during this voyage as we make our way to Sydney. Until tomorrow, take care.Yours Aye                                                                                              Captain Gav
