Day 6 – Rain, Nelsons Bay, Back to Sea!
Ahoy Shipmates…after aquiet Day at anchor off Nelson Bay we are now back at sea for our last night underway prior to Command Day. Short and sweet from me tonight…I’ll hand over to Red Watch…fair winds…Captain Kenny…-…Day 6 captains log
We started the day off with a warm and beautiful good morning from Nelson’s Bay, followed by laps of the deck and an amazing breakfast of pancakes, ice-cream and fruit from our gracious cook Marcus and our dishies. With bellies bulging and smiles on our faces we headed of to morning brief and the dreaded ‘Happy hour’ which could also be called slave labour (such complaining!). We then gathered our gear and set foot on Nelson’s Bay Marina. With a quick trip to Woolies and a few tattoos (not) later we recruited a new member called Nelson Terry; The triceratops, and loaded the ship with contraband (sugar) and a new pair of fabulous pink pants for our Sail Master Bagaz. This was followed by an amazing lunch of gourmet wraps. Not long after this we completed Day 6 rope races consisting of apple and onion bobbing and a youth crew member being drenched. After a bit of RNR and a climb for some, we weighed anchor and set sail once again, only to be met with swells of 2 meters plus. We then tacked 3 times, while doing this Kenny ran us through the basics of tacking the ship preparing us for command day. We then made our way down to the galley and café to once again stuff our faces on the amazing dinner prepared for the crew. All in all today’s events were educational, challenging and extremely helpful.

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
