Day 4 – A Perfect Day in Jervis Bay

Hi Everyone, Welcome to day 4 of our voyage. The Youth Crew awoke to a fine morning well rested from our night at anchor. We kicked of the morning at 0630 with an early morning activity which this morning consisted of a competitive round of Knight’s and Cavaliers followed by one of Adrian’s big breakfasts. Following a short morning brief and quick set of cleaning stations (happy hour) the anchor was weighed and we departed our anchorage at Montague Roads and transited to the south of Bay were we berthed at HMAS Creswell at 0945. Once alongside we topped up the ship with fresh water and whilst this was occurring we let the Youth Crew go ashore were they enjoyed a good leg stretch and took full advantage of the Creswell Canteen. Everyone was back onboard by 1130 and following another one of Chef Adrian’s fantastic lunches we departed our berth then transited the short distance to Green Patch Beach were we anchored at 1325. Once at anchor the Youth Crew were given a presentation on the scientific art of navigation by our resident Navigator Miquela then on completion were ferried ashore to the spectacular Green Patch Beach were they enjoyed some beach sports and a swim in the crystal clear water of Jervis Bay. This evening with everyone back onboard we enjoyed a Teak deck BBQ (cooked by yours truly) which was followed by an entertaining round of three way talks (communication and public speaking exercise). Following this activity we departed our anchorage at Green Patch, transited the short distance out of Jervis Bay and with the assistance of a 15kt south easterly commenced our passage north. The time is now 2245 and we are currently located 5nm to the north east of Jervis Bay sailing under a modified sail plan and battling a confused swell. Overnight the Youth Crew will continue to consolidate their navigation and sailing skills as we continue our passage north. Until tomorrow, take care. Yours Aye Captain Gav
