Day 11 – End of Voyage
Ahoy there Shipmates,Adam woke the crew with another of his cheery tunes. This time it was ‘Don’t Worry, be Happy’ by Bobby McFerrin. His parting gift to the youth crew was teaching them the Young Endeavour ‘dance moves’, which will no doubt get a lot of use by the youthies in the future! After the final Morning Brief and Happy Hour for the Voyage, Young Endeavour departed Carrington wharf at 0930 and the Youth Crew laid aloft in the old Naval tradition of ‘Manning the Yards’ for the formal arrival. We berthed at Queens wharf at 1000 in front of family and friends, having fired-off a couple of saluting gun rounds just to let the neighbours know we were in town!Following a brief ceremony, held in the light drizzle Newcastle was experiencing, we said our final farewells to the Youth Crew of Voyage 03/14. It has been a magnificent journey and one not to be forgotten. The ship will remain in Newcastle until Mon 31 Mar when it will embark a new Youth Crew for Voyage 04-14, Newcastle to Brisbane.Yours AyeCaptain Mike   “Â

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
