Day 04 – V13/25, Exmouth to Fremantle
Well, last night, our second night at sea has had it’s ups and downs, it’s pitches and its rolls and PLENTY of salty splashes for all!
We sailed off the windward coast of Dirk Hartog Island tacking and wearing the ship in watches overnight and into the wee hours of the morning.
Breakfast this morning, like all mornings was put on by our amazing Cheffo Kingy! As all of the watches filed through, one by one, they groaned the salty praises for the brekky that was Kingys’ French toast and Breakfast bolognaise.
After breakfast our Staffies lead their respective watches into their next phases of the morning before mustering for morning brief on the port side of the bridge.
Briefing was conducted by our Sail master Matty followed by our very own Master of the charts, Navigator Jack who then handed over to the very elusive, almost as impossible to catch as Davey Jones himself, SALTY THE SEA DOG! Who is an encyclopedia of Sailing knowledge! To put the turns on and make up the last of the morning briefing, Captain Leups left us with an inspirational quote from Mark Twain to motivate us for a successful day ahead.
During our time spent sailing today we faced a fierce south westerly wind that had us closing up at our tacking stations ready to face whatever Poseidon threw our way. We tacked and we wore the day away until, at last, we found ourselves at anchor in the calm waters of Turtle Bay north of Dirk Hartog Island.
We, the Youthies of Voyage V13/25, are grateful to have the STS Young Endeavour to call our home for the coming days, however we would like to thank our amazing Staff for their expertise, their guidance and support in what is the adventure of a lifetime.
So for now… or until Captain Leups leaves the computer unmanned again
