Day 03 – V13/25, Exmouth to Fremantle
Day Three sees the ship in building winds and seas but nothing that we can’t handle! With shelter promised in the lee of Dirk Hartog Island we remain close hauled and heeled over as this beautiful blue ship dances her way South across the Indian Ocean.
We will be in the lee of the islands in the next three hours and we are expecting a much improved sea state once we are in there. This will then have us on track for an anchorage in Turtle Bay at the Northern end of Dirk Hartog where we will ride out 5-6m seas as they wash through from the South.
Youth Crew have purged many a land demon but remain in high spirits. Today we continued with sail handling and ship familiarisation training. The tacking stations this morning in 25kn winds were thrilling! Made all the more exciting by a heaving deck and sea spray drenching the uppers.
Short sharp report tonight with more to come tomorrow once we are anchored up in calm waters. All are safe and accounted for and we are excit3ed to be out here having this wild adventure.
Tomorrow night the Youth Crew of V13/25 will share their stories – watch this space!
