AT ANCHOR DOVER

Hi Everyone, Welcome to day 3 of our voyage. It will have to be a short entry into the Captains Log from me tonight as we are just about to weigh anchor and complete our passage to the entry to the Thames were we will embark our Pilot at 0326 tomorrow morning. Once the Pilot is onboard we will commence our pilotage up the Thames making sure that we are on schedule to enter the historic St Katharine Docks at slack water at 1400 tomorrow afternoon.Today we have kept the crew busy with setting and furling of sails and the successful completion of our first set of tacks as a crew. I continue to be impressed with the enthusiasm of our new World Voyagers and am extremely happy with their progress nearing the completion of day 3.Kindly volunteering to write tonight’s entry of the Captains Log is Lucy and Leanne from Blue Watch. They have also included a poem about their experiences thus far. Enjoy! Due to our arrival in London tomorrow the next Captains Log will be posted on the website on Friday 17th July UK time.Until next time, take careYours AyeCaptain GavCAPTAINS LOG – 14 JULY 15 Hi Everyone, It’s Blue watch representing here!!! We are anchored off the beautiful white cliffs of Dover after a day and night of sailing out of Southampton and through the English Channel. It has been non-stop for everyone since we left port and I’ve personally already lost track of the time and day. Top 3 highlights to date would be successfully climbed up to the topgallant yard, leaving port to start the trip and successfully tacking and wearing the ship on the first day.We also have been force fed a lot of new terminology that we are slowly getting used to with all the practicing we are getting from set and furling all the sails. It’s like the crew is preparing for us to race…Some pro tips I wanted to share with everyone that we’ve learnt from the staff crew include: • Spirit fingers after coming up • Always vomit on the leeward side of the boat • Sleep whenever you have free time • Watch out for the sneaky waves coming from everywhere • HAVE HEAPS OF FUN!!! Poem: The early days We came together from port wide and far With new face we made a start Once on the boat we met the scurvy crew A smiley bunch, full of facts we never knew The hard lessons first; rules and safety made clear But as we listened the fun came nearer As evening crept by the sky never got dark Red and blue watch climber the mast Despite the nerves and fears, we made it up and back all safe Although some did without grace The next morning white watch climbed And soon we sailed with adventure in mind As engines went off, the sails went up And steadily the sea got rough Whiles some were working the sails, Other were saying goodbye to lunch as stomachs failed Night crept on and we did our first watches New hands at the helm and on binoculars As sun rose we had some tucker And to the aft we did muster Here we met some stowaways Salty and Nanna, Who told us of the real ocean ways Soon we were tacking and wearing, to bring the boat about As we learned our lines in and out With such speed and grace we flew The wind behind our back, the miles we few With time so spare we anchored near shore Time was passed with games, climbing workouts and more Soon we will be on the move Slightly tired, but with a happy determined mood Signing out Leanne and Lucy
