At Anchor At Platypus Bay

Hi Everyone, Sunrise this morning found Young Endeavour 15nm west of Platypus Bay sailing under a full press of fore and aft sails in an unseasonably cold 15kt south westerly. During morning cleaning stations I individually assessed each watch in sail setting and furling drills and was extremely happy with the high standard of safety and knowledge that each watch displayed. Once this period of sail work was complete we headed straight into Platypus Bay, finally coming to anchor in this very scenic part of Fraser Island at 1120. Following lunch the Youth Crew were ferried ashore to the pristine breach where they enjoyed beach sports and a refreshing swim. By 1500 everyone was back onboard and after a short break I presented my Command Day lecture which was immediately followed by the YC Command team elections. By 1715 these elections were complete and after a short question period everyone again mustered on deck to enjoy a very pleasant sunset BBQ dinner. To finish of the evening the Youth Crew adjourned to the Ships Caf and the Staff Mess were they enjoyed the legendary tall ship movie Around Cape Horn (complete with freshly cooked popcorn). On completion of the movie and a very busy day the YC have now settled into anchor watches for the night and will enjoy a well deserved rest in preparation for the commencement of tomorrows much anticipated Command Day. Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav PS. For my beautiful daughter Jess, have a wonderful 14th birthday tomorrow, as always my thoughts and love will be with you.Lots of LoveDad xxxxxxxx
