A Ship Takes a Deserved Break
Early this morning we went for another swim. That’s 6 swims this Voyage and must be a new record. The YC packed and wrote farewell letters. We weighed anchor at 9:30 and the YC laid aloft to man the yards. As I promised, we went past the Opera House and under the Harbour Bridge – a great thrill as they all sang three blind jelly fish (sorry – an ‘in’ joke). We motored back to Garden Island to see friends and family waiting on the wharf. At midships we gathered and farewelled each other and took some last photos. There was a real hesitation for the YC to leave. It must be hard leaving a place where you have enjoyed and experienced so much. I also thanked our Scot, Chris Gordon who has completed two Voyages on Young Endeavour – one as YC and this one as Assistant White Watch Leader. He was a great sailor, team player and above all a fine ship mate. Thanks for your efforts Chirs – you will be missed and thanks for the wee drams. The ship will stay in Sydney for the next 4 weeks in a maintenance period before we sail again on 26 March for the Voyages to Brisbane and beyond as we continue our circumnavigation of Australia. We have returned to Sydney after spending three and a half months and eight voyages sailing in southern Australian waters and it’s been great. Stay tuned to the websiteAndrew Davis

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
