Day Two – Have departed Port Phillip Bay
Hi Everyone,Welcome to day two of our voyage. The Youth Crew awoke to an overcast and misty Melbourne morning but you tell it was going to be a warm day.Following an Early Morning Activity (EMA) and breakfast the Youth Crew were mustered on the port side of the bridge and introduced to the traditional ceremony of colours and morning brief. Once completed, we weighed anchor and commenced our passage to the south of Port Phillip Bay.During this passage the Youth Crew conducted their first set of cleaning stations (Happy Hour) then mustered back on deck for a thorough safety equipment brief given by ‘Taffy’ the Ship’s Safety Equipment Officer. This afternoon following another great lunch (thanks Chef Jenko) we conducted sail setting and furling drills then completed our first set of tacks as a crew. Given the warm weather we then stopped the ship for 15 minutes and gave everyone the chance to have a refreshing swim.At 1800 this evening we departed Port Phillip Bay via the Western Channel and in light and variable conditions have now shaped a course for Wilson’s Promontory. Overnight the Youth Crew will settle into their watches as we make best speed along the Victorian Coast.Volunteering to write an entry in tonight’s Captains Log is Samantha, please enjoy!Until tomorrow, take care.Yours Aye Captain Gav CAPTAIN’ S LOG – 08 MAR 16The first 24hrs we where divided into three groups red watch, blue watch and white watch. Then were assigned bunks and given a brief run down of the ship, and its crew. In our watches we have done some getting to know your watch activities as well as the whole crew, climbing aloft at sunset or darkness in Melbourne harbour, cleaning and maintenance , safety procedure talks and demos, basic setting and furling on the sunny deck and then a refreshing swim before dinner and leaving the bay, into open waters. Our shifts on deck have now started some of us are getting rest for the early shift, some are on watch , and some are feeling not so crash hot in the guts but its been brilliant so far. Sam

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
