Non-competitive (competitive)
Ahoy there Shipmates, Overnight the Ship remained at anchor off Broughton Island. Sail Master Harry woke us at 0630 and the crew enjoyed a swim and rope swing before breakfast. After the Morning Brief the Staff conducted a Toxic Hazard exercise to practise their skills at dealing with such an unlikely emergency and to inform the youth crew how to react to a ‘muster stations’ pipe over the main broadcast. The staff weighed anchor at 0930 while the youthies undertook ‘Happy Hour’. On completion the watches practised setting and furling the stay sails until lunch. At 1300 we had Round 1 of ‘Rope Races’ a non-competitive (competitive) activity between the watches designed to encourage them to learn the layout and equipment onboard. This was followed by a Navigation Brief given by Nick and covering the theoretical aspects the crew will need to know for Command Day. They will have opportunities over the next two days at sea to gain practical experience of navigation. Afterwards the watches worked on deck for the remainder of the afternoon watch. Setting and furling sails and practising their newly acquired navigational knowledge. It is intended to continue our passage to Jervis Bay overnight, undertaking the BEAREX leadership during the night watches and anchoring tomorrow in the late afternoon. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain MikeÂ

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
