Anchored in Gladstone Harbour
Ahoy there Shipmates,
We got woken up at 6:30am by eerie music and went straight to the deck where we saw Emma… In wet weather gear, pacing around the ship. It was pouring… We discovered it was Jemma’s birthday and we sang happy birthday 15 times. After breakfast (ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS BTW), we had happy hour (not what you think), and learnt how to tie some basic, but important knots. We had some late arrivals so we greeted them in an enthusiastic manner (unexpected hugs and unnecessary screaming). After lunch, the sun finally arrived in Gladstone (better late than never) so the crew went ashore to play some ball games and slide in the mud. Rinsing off before getting back on board, we then prepared to leave the dock. Nec minute it’s dark again and we anchor off the shore of Gladstone. Youthies handed over their phones with tears dripping down their faceïŒ. After dinner, we had a briefing on our watch duties before our first watches for the voyage.
BJ & Bridgo
Thanks BJ and Bridgo,
That pretty well sums up the day. We pickup our final two new Youth Crew in the morning by boat, then kick-in to our normal program full-time.
We will remain at anchor in Gladstone Harbour overnight.
Until tomorrow.
Yours Aye, Captain Mike

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
