At Anchor Cape Moreton

Hi Everyone, Early this morning the wind freshened from the south west and we again set more sail and increased boat speed. Initially I had planned to anchor overnight at the northern point of Stradbroke Island but a strong wind warning issued this morning meant that this anchorage was no longer suitable so we continued our passage north. As the day progressed we completed a communication exercise which was followed Captains Setting and Furling Drills. These drills are designed so that I can evaluate each Watch in their ability to safely set and furl sails in preparation for Command Day. With these drills successfully completed all sailed was handed in and we proceeded to anchor just in the lea of Cape Moreton. Once safely at anchor the Youth Crew were ferried ashore were they were given the opportunity to swim, play beach sports or take the scenic walk up to Cape Moreton Lighthouse. Also whilst ashore the Youth Crew conducted a cleanup of the beach and surrounding area which has now become a normal part of our shore visits and is Young Endeavours way of helping the environment. On their return to the ship we enjoyed another teak deck BBQ’ dinner this evening cooked by Phil and myself. On completion of dinner I conducted my Command Day brief which was immediately followed by the Youth Crew’s Command Team elections. After a very busy day the Youth Crew have now settled into anchor watches and tonight will enjoy a good nights rest in preparation for the commencement of tomorrows much anticipated Command Day.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
