Final Night Of Voyage 13/08
Ahoy Shipmates, Following a well deserved nights sleep, the YC were roused at 0630 this morning in preparation for the half day sail. The Ship was already underway at this stage, as the Staff Crew had weighed anchor shortly after 0600 and negotiated the narrow entrance out of Tangalooma and shaped a course for the entrance to the Brisbane River. After fighting a very strong ebbing tide the ship finally berthed port side to Bulimba Barracks Wharf at 0925, discharging the stockpile of garbage which had been accumulated throughout the voyage, and took on fresh stores for the half day sail. At 1000 34 guests from the Ipswich Special Needs School, 10 junior footballers from the Sunnybank and Ipswich Grammar Rugby Clubs and a number of Staff Crew guests joined Young Endeavour for the half day sail. The ship sailed at 1010 and proceeded upstream as far as Dockside Marina before turning around, setting some square sails and sailing back to Bulimba Barracks. Despite the light conditions, everyone enjoyed a very pleasant sail and of course some great food prepared by Chef Chad. The Ship berthed back at Bulimba Barracks at 1300 where our guests were farewelled. During the rest of the afternoon the YC stored ship, conducted end of voyage talks and completed a good set of harbour furls. This evening we enjoyed our last teak deck BBQ for this voyage followed by an entertaining ship’s concert. The rest of the evening will see the YC complete end of voyage questionnaires and letters to themselves, which are returned to each YC member six months after voyage completion. Overnight all watches will enjoy their last anchor watch together before completing their voyage at Dockside Marina, Brisbane at 1000 tomorrow morning were we will be met by family and friends. This ends another memorable voyage for the Youth Crew and Staff of Young Endeavour. Until next voyage, take careYours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
