Ahoy Shipmates -What a day – in between the high winds and showers we have beenhaving, we took the opportunity to get out and see some of Aucklandwith a bus tour this morning. This included the Auckland Museum andsome other great sights. during the afternoon we played sport at alocal park in the rain. Great fun was had by all with a waterskidding competiion thrown in – more fun than Wet ‘n Wild…This evening we had the ship’s concert, with each watch and thestaffies putting together a skit, as well as Georgie and the Docreliving four or so long, wet and cold hours in the Rhib (ships boat)for the Commonwealth Games baton handover. It was great fun and weall had a huge laugh. After the concert the Youth Crew took time outto complete thier voyage questionnaires and reflective letters (whichwill be posted to them six months or so after their voyage to remindthemselves fof the life-goals they have set and their experienceswhile onboard). With the formal part of the youth development program now atan end, we are turning our minds towards the Auckland harbourfestival, Australia Day, and the tall ships races. For Australia Daywe are hosting an official reception for 120 guests onboard tocelebrate – it should be a great event, and give the Youth Crew anopportunity to once again represent the youth of Australia and showoff their ship to some prominent New Zealanders. The trans – Tasman rivalry has started already with some good naturedbanter between ship’s crews about who will win the tall ships races -we all know that Young Endeavour will be the best on the day…Until tomorrow,Yours Aye,ChrisChris GallowayLieutenant Commander, RANCommanding OfficerSTS YOUNG ENDEAVOUR

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
