A Beautiful Queensland Day
Overnight the crew did a great job with harbour furls and the yards look very shipshape. End of voyage talks were also held and the concert was really a hoot, as I suspected. The long and winding Brisbane River was negotiated while the Youth Crew packed their belongings and had their Voyage books signed by other crew members. The weather was absolutely brilliant as the Youth Crew lay aloft to man the yards for the approach to the berth after passing beneath the Story Bridge. There were a few worried looks from aloft as the Story Bridge came closer but the top of the mast cleared the underside by over a metre. After a full-bellied rendition of the National Anthem, the ship berthed in the centre of Brisbane for the weekend. At the presentation of Voyage certificates prior to the Youth Crew departing, I presented the Order of Australia Medallion to Katherine ‘barbeque’ Webber, 17 of Maleny. Voyage 14/00 will be remembered as a particularly harmonious bunch. They displayed all the trademarks of what Young Endeavour is about over and over again and gained immense satisfaction and a real sense of achievement from their time onboard. The Staff Crew were unanimous in agreeing that they were a top bunch of Tall Ship sailors. My thanks go to Andrew Rourke for allowing me to be Captain for this Voyage. I go back to being XO for the next Voyage before formally taking Command of Young Endeavour on 7 September. By way of a reminder, the Youth Crew Reunion will be held this Saturday evening at Colonial Quay, 443 Queen Street, Brisbane, where the ship is presently berthed.Speak to you again on 10 Sep,Andrew Davis

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
