WINEGLASS BAY
Hi Everyone,Following a rough and extremely cold night at sea Young Endeavour finally came safely to anchor at 0530 this morning in the spectacular Wineglass Bay, which is located on the Freycinet Peninsular. Following a short morning brief and breakfast the Youth Crew were ferried ashore where they undertook a very scenic 3 hour walk from Wineglass Bay to Coles Bay. Whilst the Youth Crew and Watch Leaders were undertaking this walk the remaining Staff Crew weighed anchor and sailed the ship, via Schouten Passage around to Coles Bay, coming safely to anchor at 1330. By 1430 we had everyone back onboard and given that it was a reasonably warm day it was decided to rig the rope swim and give everyone the opportunity to display their acrobatic talents by swinging of the side of the ship into the rather cool water of Coles Bay. On completion of this swim the anchor was weighed and we departed Coles Bay and shaped a new course for Maria Island, which was located 20nm to the south. During this passage I conducted Captains Setting and Furling Drills followed by the final two demonstrational tacks that I had failed to complete yesterday due to the strong winds and poor conditions. With these activities successfully completed we proceeded safely to anchor at 2045 in Darlington Bay, which is located on the north western side of Maria Island. Once at anchor the ship reverted to anchor watches for the night so that the Youth Crew can enjoy a well deserved good night’s sleep in preparation for Command Day, which is scheduled to commence tomorrow afternoon.Until tomorrow, take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
