WHITSUNDAY ISLAND
Yesterday I left you with us at anchor offf Keswick Island. On completion of sail setting drills we weighed anchor and with a following breeze, headed out into the Whitsunday Islands. After a busy night that involved a bit of sail handling for each watch and a 2230 tack, we awoke to an overcast day in paradise. This cloud soon dissapeared as the morning wore on and at 0830, we anchored off Whitehaven Beach on the Western side of Whitsunday Island. This mornings activities included a lively happy hour of cleaning the ship, rope races round 1 and then of course the boat ride to what is often quoted as being the best beach in Australia. After a BBQ lunch ashore, all Youth Crew were allowed free time to explore or just sit on the beach and soak up the sunny weather.Ian HibbardLEUT, RANCaptain V10/06

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
