Voyage 17-09 Underway

Hi Everyone, Welcome to Voyage 17/09 from Esperance to Adelaide. Staff Crew for this voyage are as follows:Captain GavSail Master AdamNavigator TrishWatch Officer PaulRed Watch Leader JessWhite Watch Leader TaffyBlue Watch Leader ShayneChef ChadEngineer LindseyToday’ voyage commenced with the ship alongside at the Grain Wharf at the Port of Esperance. At 1500 we commenced shuttle runs from the main gate to the ship and by 1530 we had all of the Youth Crew safely onboard. Following my welcome address and Staff Crew introductions we farewelled a few family members who had been given the opportunity to come and visit the ship and say goodbye to the Youth Crew. With formalities complete the Sail Master commenced the program with a set of ice breakers’ (exercise designed to encourage Youth Crew to get to know each other) followed by ships tours then dinner. On completion of dinner we conducted Captains and Sail Master talks then went straight into safety aloft. Prior to commencing our first climbs the wind unexpectedly increased to over 40kts which unfortunately due to safety concerns put a stop to mast climbs for the evening. Despite this small setback we continued with a number of other activities including full value contracts’ and deck safety. The time is now 2230 and a tired but happy Youth crew have just turned in for a well deserved good nights sleep onboard YE At the moment it is planned to depart Esperance Harbour early tomorrow afternoon once we have completed our first climbs and some more safety training. Until Tomorrow, Take Care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav
