Voyage 15/08 Commences
Ahoy Shipmates, Welcome to the commencement of Voyage 15/08 from Sydney to Eden. Today’s voyage began with a welcome to the Youth Crew, family and friends at Fleet Base East Berth 5A. With family, friends and well-wishers farewelled, the lines were cast off at 1605 and the ship departed her berth, conducted a well executed turn at rest’, then proceeded out of Fleet Base East passing two very large USN Ships on our way out. Once clear of Fleet base we altered course to the east and proceeded down the harbour to planned anchorage in Rose Bay. Once at anchor all watches completed ice breakers’ before commencing Ships tours. As stated in today’s opening address the food onboard YE is fantastic and Chef Chad’s dinner tonight was no exception (pumpkin soup, fish, chicken, roast lamb, lasagne with 3 choices for desert). Following dinner it was strait into climbing safety and hopefully by late evening we will see all YC attempt their first climb of the fore mast before finally turning in for their first nights sleep onboard YE. Anyway my services are now required up the mast so I had better complete this log entry here. Until tomorrow take care.Yours AyeCaptain Gav

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
