Day 6 – Patonga and beyond
Ahoy dear readers!
Today we were awoken by a funky tune by Simon and Garfunkel, that got us grooving up on deck.
After a night of anchor watches and good conversations, we started our day with the beautiful sights of Broken Bay and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. A competitive game of Ubuntu woke us up then Jenko provided us with his always delicious food, with the help of his talented MasterChef’s.
Soon following was a high paced happy hour, clothes washing session and morning brief, where we prepared to set our feet on stable land once again. We undertook an unexpected trek along the Great North Walk to Waratah Lookout were we took many photos of the STS Young Endeavour anchored in the beautiful bay. We then descended and returned to the Tall Ship in time for a delicious lunch of hotdogs and homemade sausage rolls. Then it was then time for an always fun game of Rope Races. For a bonus point the Watches creatively re-enacted performances of the Lion King, Titanic and Moana, which was very entertaining.
Once that activity was done and dusted, we lifted the anchor and set our sails for the heads, making our way back out to the ever-missed sea for another night in the swell of the ocean.
After successfully completing tacking drills (rotational tacks followed by demonstrational tacks) and experiencing new stations upon the ship, we had some well-earned down time to rest, play cards and fill in our diary entries, before enjoying an incredible dinner of Roast Beef, Chicken Carbonara and Cauliflower Tacos.
We have now commenced Watches for the rest of the evening, night and early morning… and some of our shipmates have already taken advantage of some late evening sunset climbs.
We say an enthusiastic G’Day to our families back home,
Sheridan, Mark and Lewey, as well as Kristy, Rob and Lily (And Lexi)!

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
