Day 1 – V07/25, Gladstone to Cairns

Ahoy there Shipmates! With a great amount of pride I can announce that the third leg of our Circumnavigation has commenced! Adventure awaits as the Youth Crew of Voyage 07/25 come aboard and begin their journey to become Salty Sea Dogs!
It was with an electric nervous energy and excitement that the 23 Young Australians of Voyage 07/25 crossed the gangway and took their first steps along the path to adventure. Their families and friends should rightly feel very proud that their loved ones stepped onboard with a smile on their face and brought a willingness to challenge themselves and expand their horizons!
After we said our farewells and goodbyes to our friends and families, we chose to remain alongside Gladstone Ferry Terminal and crack into the Youth Development program. Tonight we show the Youthies around their new home and start to teach them the basics of all the lines and rigging onboard. First order of business is to teach all the Youth Crew the finer points of their climbing harness and lay aloft on the Foremast to climb all the way to the Topgallant. I’m pleased to report that all Youth Crew made it to the top!
This voyage we have an amazing group of professional sailors and mariners onboard:
Sail Master – Chucky
Navigator – Matty
Watch Officer – Karsen
White Watch Leader – Lowey
Red Watch Leader – Sara & Sarah
Blue Watch Leader – Sean
Engineer – Gordon
2nd Engineer – Sumo
Chef – Kingey
Follow us as we transit the amazing Queensland Coast and I hope to see you in Cairns!
