Day 1 – Ahoy there shipmates
Ahoy there shipmates, landlubbers and armchair sailors, welcome to Captain’s Log for Voyage 06/23. 23 Youth Crew from all over Australia embarked this afternoon, alongside McLaren Wharf at Port Adelaide, and they look like a great bunch.
After stowing their kit bags below deck, I welcomed everyone onboard and introduced my skilled and experienced staff crew for this voyage… Namely: Sail Master – Chucky. Navigator – Evan. Boats Officer – Seb. Red Watch Leader – Christine. White Watch Leader – Matty. Blue Watch Leader – Sumo. Chef – Haydo and Engineer – Hoppy.
Watch Leaders then took charge for some ice breakers and ships tours, which took us up to a lovely dinner by the always lovely Haydo. The ship then departed McLaren Wharf and slid through the opened, Diver Derrick Bridge and departed the Port Adelaide River. During the transit, Matty our safety equipment specialist gave Youth Crew a detailed brief and tour of all the ships survival and safety equipment.
We then entered the Gulf St Vincent and came to anchor in Largs Bay, where we will remain until after lunch tomorrow. Then at 2045, Christine our Medical Care Provider gave youthies a medical brief which was followed by Hoppy the Engineer, who spoke of engines and plumbing and ships husbandry and the like. Chucky and I then spoke to them about their responsibilities and a few ‘guidelines’ to ensure communal harmony and unconditional positive regard for all.
Finally, Youth Crew split into watches once again and completed Full Value Contracts for the voyage, before turning in for the night. Intention is to remain at anchor overnight, conducting first climbs in the forenoon and departing for sea after lunch.
The adventure has begun… It’s going to be a fantastic voyage, I can feel it in my (salt) waters 😉
Good night and stay safe. Captain Adam Charlie Farley+

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
