Day 3 – Respite in Refuge Cove
Ahoy there dear readers, currently anchored in Sealers Bay on Wilsons Promontory, after a lumpy night and morning at sea and a great afternoon exploring ashore. Youth crew are currently settling into anchor watches, with staff crew keeping a weather eye on things 😉 Here is tonight’s log written by Orlando and Yolanda. Enjoy.
HIP HIP Hurrah!
Day 3 achieved! Despite a green start for a number of our youthies, with less than desirable conditions and deprived sleep, the crew continued pushing through the challenges and finished with a bang. Watches through the night passed into morning as we sailed for Refuge Cove.
With sails set and strong winds, our beautiful ship forged ahead to lay anchor late morning. Once arrived in the aptly named Refuge Cove, youthies enjoyed a tasty lunch in the sun without the swell of the open sea, to the relief of many. Boarding parties set out for shore, where we had an enthusiastic afternoon filled with games, conversation and tree-hugging. Youthies transformed into giants, wizards and elves with mixed success and the dark-shirt team emerged victorious.
Back on the ship we participated in an information gathering exercise, and shared our results with all watches: red, white and blue. Each youthie represented another from their delegated group by introducing themselves as their partner so we could gain an insightful understanding of the broader crew.
At approximately 2100, the anchor was raised as we head out for another bay further north, where we will spend the night. Each hour youthies will hold a watch throughout the night, where it will be their responsibility to keep the ship afloat while the rest of the crew enjoys a well-deserved sleep.
Here’s to a glorious day on the high seas tomorrow; may the sunrise see us bright-eyed and innards in.
Orlando’s sending his best wishes to his mother whose birthday was on the 22nd and is keeping the crews spirits high with his promise of spectacular poetry!
Huzzah!

Thank you Tarvi, Kaeden and Matt for your narrative of today's events. Intentions are to remain at anchor in Hunters Bay, just off HMAS Penguin, home of the RAN Diving School, a place close to my heart, having spent many a day there under training as a young Officer! The plan is to weigh anchor and proceed to HMAS Waterhen, in Waverton, to pick up our Community Day Sailors from the Windgap Foundation and take them for a sail around the harbour for 3 hours. The Youth Crew will help us host our visitors and give them an experience of Young Endeavour. We will drop them back to Waverton and then proceed to anchor in the harbour where we will have a good view of the Bridge and the Opera House for the Youth Crew's last night onboard. Until tomorrow. Yours Aye, Captain Mike
